Waddington
Street Centre, an independent charity, was established over 40 years ago in Durham City.
The Centre's aims are to deliver effective support and meaningful opportunities
to people with mental health needs. We aim to help people live fulfilling lives
in the community by offering opportunities for personal development, social
interaction, and by supporting recovery. We are also committed to countering
stigma and discrimination.
The
Centre offers a wide range of informal learning based activities, supported by
New College Durham and volunteer tutors. These activities, including a Health
Trainer service, support personal development and recovery, and help to reduce
isolation and social exclusion. There are over 30 activities/courses per week
ranging from psychology to cookery, from football to glass workshops.
